Cataracts

A cataract is a clouding of the lens in your eye that affects your vision. Symptoms may include blurry vision, sensitivity to light, difficulty seeing at night, or even seeing halos around lights. At iFocus Vision Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, Dr. Velasco can diagnose cataracts and co-manage your care with an ophthalmologist once surgery is necessary. During your eye exam, our eye doctor will conduct a series of tests to determine the severity of your cataracts and develop a personalized treatment plan.

Cataract treatment in Las Vegas

As we age, our natural lenses become less flexible and more opaque, leading to the development of cataracts. At first, cataracts may affect only a small part of your lens. In these early stages, updating your prescription for contacts or glasses may be enough to improve your vision. Depending on the severity of your condition, Dr. Velasco may also recommend lifestyle changes such as wearing sunglasses or using brighter lighting. However, as the cataract worsens and gets larger, surgery will become necessary if new glasses or contacts no longer help. Once you reach this point, our eye doctor will refer you to a skilled ophthalmologist in the area for cataract surgery.

Cataract surgery is a quick and painless procedure that involves removing the cloudy lens and replacing it with an artificial one called an intraocular lens (IOL). Our team will work closely with you before and after surgery to ensure optimal results and a smooth recovery. Following the procedure, we will provide post-operative care and follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and address any concerns you may have.
